Evolez means take flight or soar. I've been chasing this dream since I could hold a hammer and was building "airplanes" in my father's garage. The first time video got involved was when my father filmed me with a 1980's camcorder jumping off the peak of the two-story house into the fresh snow as he coached me to yell "I'm committed!" for the camera. I'm still here to tell the tale, but Mom was not happy.
After a successful yet unfulfilling detour into the government research and corporate worlds, today my dream of flight now gets satiated with skydiving, BASE jumping, paragliding, speed flying, flying bush planes, and flying drones when my feet have to stay on the ground. For most of these airborne events you'll find me with at least one camera strapped to my head and a remote shutter switch between my teeth.
While I love the challenge of photography and videography intertwined with these adrenaline-fueled moments careening through the sky, capturing that handful of seconds between aircraft exit and canopy deployment has given me a deeper appreciation for the fleeting moments all around us. We're here for a short time - let's live it.
